ADJECTIVES ORDER

Formula

Determiner – Opinion – Size – Age – Shape – Color – Origin – Material -Purpose + Noun

1.    Opinion
Explains what you think about something and other people may not agree with you.
Example: cute, ugly, hard,
beautiful, silly, horrible, handsome, etc.
2.    Size
Tells how big or small something is.
Example: small, medium, large,
big, small, little, large, tiny, etc.
3.    Age
Tells how young or old something or someone is.
Example: new, ancient, old, old, new, young, ancient, etc.
4.    Shape
Describe the shape of something.
Example: rectangular, round, oval-shaped,
square, circle, flat, round, etc.
5.    Color
Describe the color of something.
Example: blue, red, yellow, etc.
6.    Origin
Describe where something comes from.
Example: American, Greek, Saudi Arabian
, Indonesian, etc.
7.    Material
Describe what something is made from.
Example: metallic, plastic, wooden, metal, cotton, etc.
8.    Purpose
Describe what something is used for; often end with "ing".
Example: sleeping (bag), cooking (oil), running (shoes), etc.
